My Pocketnet - your smartphone is "not-so-smart" without the Internet
First things first, this is not a review of a My Pocketnet because I have not used it... YET. That's because I'm in Perth, Australia and this product/service is only available in Malaysia.
This IS my friend's company and I'm doing this post not because he's my friend, but because I think this is a bloody BRILLIANT idea. Like... GENIUS! Seriously, this is the answer to all my data/wifi/internet problems whenever I am back in Malaysia to visit my family and friends.
What is My Pocketnet?
In summary, it's a portable wifi device that you rent for a duration of time.
I think it's the perfect solution for tourists or travelers visiting Malaysia. Everyone has a smartphone these days and unless you're superbly-anally-obsessively organized, I highly doubt you'd be prepared with maps and tips of the destination you're travelling to. Therefore, smart devices like iPhones, Android phones and tablets are a lifesaver with access to GoogleMaps and travel review websites. But you'd require a WORKING internet connection for those to work.
How does it work?
Why use it?
Seriously, do I even have to answer that? It's the INTERNET man... I'm an internet addict and I can't live without my smartphone. If you're asking why rent My Pocketnet and not get like a prepaid SIM card with data.
Why? Because Malaysian telco providers are a pain in the arse when it comes to data pricing-that's why.
I have first hand experience being burnt by DiGi. I turned on my data thinking "How bad can a few Whatsapp messages be right? It's probably just a few kbs, I'm prepared to pay RM20 for my 10 days stay of data..."
Like OMG... that was like for 200mb? Less? I MEAN IT'S WHATSAPP MESSAGES!!! I turned off ALL my other auto push notifications. I DIDN'T EVEN GO ON FACEBOOK! (I only used it to the max when there was free wifi around; not like there were many places with wifi that actually worked)
So, a 200mb plan on My Pocketnet costs 15USD. That's about RM47.
I would've gladly paid that and had wifi with me ALL THE TIME. Rather than sit myself at Starbucks waiting for my friends for 6 hours and order like a coffee (RM15) each time I sat down as I couldn't just leave my things there to go to the toilet, I'm alone goddamnit! So I average 2 cups of coffee at Starbucks (I choose Starbucks only cause their wifi works 100% of the time, their coffee is horrible) whenever I am waiting for my friends, so that's RM30.
Now, if I sat at a local coffee shop and ordered a full breakfast set (with amazing kopi peng), it would cost me RM8.90 and I'd STILL have internet thanks to My Pocketnet. I'd spend RM8.90 + RM4.70 (dividing out RM47 for my 10 day trip) = RM13.60 for the equivalent time I'd spend waiting for my friends. Not to mention I can always hang out somewhere else and STILL have internet and not have to buy anything.
Now you do the math and tell me what would you prefer. It's a no-brainer really...
Anyways, for more information, visit the site www.mypocketnet.com.
No, I'm not getting paid for this. I'm doing it because it's a great idea and I'm definitely renting one for my next trip back home to Kuala Lumpur. Fine, the only incentive I'd get from this post is that my friend, the owner of this company, will deliver the device to me PERSONALLY and maybe buy me a full breakfast set at Papparich or some kopitiam which would cost like RM10. So if THAT makes this a paid post, then alright, it's a paid post. Happy?

Malaysian Police Clearance / Letter of Good Conduct
Alright, it was a biiiiacth trying to find out new information on how to apply for my Malaysian Police Clearance or Letter of Good Conduct while I'm here in Perth. Needless to say, the "official government" website is hopeless and horrible and INACCURATE!
So, here's the step by step instructions to (hopefully) make visa applications easier for Malaysians in Perth. I got this from the Consulate General of Malaysia, Perth (after many attempts of calling over a period of 4 days...).
STEP 1
Register on-line at www.kln.gov.my (e-consular),
Submit online and print out three (3) copies of the forms.
STEP 2
Documents/Items required:
(3) photocopies of Identity Card (back & front)
(3) photocopies of Birth Certificate/Citizenship Certificate - I did not have to submit this... not sure why it's here...
(3) recent passport size photographs
(3) photocopies of passport (pages 1, 2, 3, Signature page and valid Australian Visa)
For Non- Malaysians, (3) photocopies of Malaysian Visas & Passport used while in Malaysia
STEP 3
Submit the printed forms and above documents (all 3 copies) to the Consulate. They are open from 9.00am to 1.00pm, Monday to Friday (except public holidays - both Malaysian and Australian).
Fee of AUD 10.00 cash ( fee will change from time to time based on the current official rate of exchange )
Please note that the Royal Malaysian Police will require approximately three (3) to four (4) months to complete the procedure from the date you submit your document to the Consulate General of Malaysia.
Please:
Check your status of application online at www.kln.gov.my (e-consular). When it is completed, call the Consulate to inform them that you wish to pick up your Police Clearance/Letter of Good Conduct. Apparently they'll print out the letter for you but you have to get it done through them and you must be there to collect it in person.
Contact information for the Consulate General of Malaysia:
This information is valid as of 24 November 2012.

3 reasons why people are (still) getting scammed online
The following video has been shared on Facebook by some of my friends in Malaysia. I took particular interest to it as it was a 60 Minutes Australia production and was surprised to find that the Nigerian scammers were found in Kuala Lumpur.
After watching it I can't help but wonder how people are still getting scammed after the internet has been around for so long and there are just SO MANY CASES! So, here are my opinions:
1. Greed
2. Desperation
3. Stupidity
I do have one question though, is the scammer that stupid to collect the payments at Western Union with his own name? If yes, that means he doesn't have the means of obtaining a fake credential with his fake name.
But that being said, does this mean the lady in Australia sent money to a name OTHER than her online lover? That's just really dumb...
If she DID send it to the name of her online lover, and a different man picks up the money with transaction details but not with the identification of the receiver's name... Why doesn't Western Union just make it mandatory for photo identification of the receiver's name to collect the funds?
*shakes head* Humans...
After watching it I can't help but wonder how people are still getting scammed after the internet has been around for so long and there are just SO MANY CASES! So, here are my opinions:
3 Reasons Why People Are (still) Getting Scammed Online
1. Greed
"You have won a gazillion dollars from the lottery in Mordor! To access your money, please wire us all your life savings for the transaction fee and you will be so OMGWTFBBQRICH!!!"
Note the style of "CERTIFICATE OF APPROVAL".
Familiar Font Art from Microsoft Office 97?
Why in the world would anyone fall for this? I've received several emails/calls like this before. First off, I've never even BEEN to that particular country they claim I won the lottery at; secondly, their command of English was way off.
Scammers are so successful because everyone's looking for that "ticket to fortune". Out of 100 emails they send out, there would be 1 blinded by dollar signs and blindly hand over thousands of dollars over an untracable & nonreversible transaction through Western Union & Moneygram.
2. Desperation
Like in the video this poor old lady got scammed after being involved in an online romance. I can understand that you can get emotionally attached to a person online but to send them your life savings and rack up a debt? That's just going way too far.
Tries to buy plane ticket to visit online lover - Credit Card DECLINED
But I guess there really are very deperate people who will do anything just to find love. However, the moment it involves money, I suggest you run. Not only cause I'm a cheapskate, but I worked damn hard to earn my money and why should I part with it for someone who says sweet nothings in bad English and not to mention never even seen?
For some weird reason no one ever suspects why these scammers do not own a webcam... Hmm...
3. Stupidity
This is probably the MAIN reason why people are still getting scammed.
Please people, if it's too good to be true, IT PROBABLY IS! Such a simple rule and yet people still get scammed.
Fry makes a point.
It may not be valid nor reasonable, but still... a point.
Educate yourself about scams, you don't have to do full research just Google the "company" or individual's name and you'll see if they're blacklisted on websites that compile these scams. If anyone you don't know contacts you about money, don't respond!
IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!!
That being said, the Nigerian scammers caught in Malaysia wouldn't be the last ones. There are definitely more and with Malaysian police, I highly doubt they'll be arrested. The only reason why this video of arrest exists is because it's an Australian effort. Otherwise its *cough*bribe*cough cough*
I do have one question though, is the scammer that stupid to collect the payments at Western Union with his own name? If yes, that means he doesn't have the means of obtaining a fake credential with his fake name.

How to mindfuck a group of strangers
So this came up while I was talking about nonsense with my housemate. Here's what to do to mindfuck a group of strangers:
STEP 1:
Have a friend dress up in cosplay/visual kei/anything weird. It can be anything you like, for example:
STEP 2:
All dolled up? Now go to a public place, preferably a coffee shop where there are alot of people. Order 2 cups of coffee for yourselves and just chat normally. IMPORTANT: the one in cosplay should not be the one ordering and he/she should not touch their drink.
STEP 3:
After about 15-20 minutes, everyone in that area should've noticed both of you. Look at your friend and say:
There you go, how to mindfuck a group of strangers =P
VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:
Don't laugh after STEP 3.
For extra dramatic scene, start crying and running out of the restaurant leaving your "friend" behind.

Green & Co in Leederville, Perth would be a perfect place for this setup.

The Art of Rice Paddy
This may be old news as this art started in 1993 in Aomori village of Inakadate. But it's still AMAZING to say the least.
No ink or dye was used in growing this art. Only different colours of rice plants used (purple, white and green). All strategically placed to create this magnificent sight.
When I first saw it, I thought it was digitally enhanced images although Japan is totally capable of creating such wonders and they've definitely done it. Now the art is planned carefully on a computer to ensure the preciseness of the plot. But for the first 9 years, the village office workers and farmers grew a simple design of Mount Iwaki every year (I think that's still freaking amazing).
This is totally going on my "Things to do in Japan" list.

Video about gay stereotypes
Stumbled across this video on Youtube and I guess it's worth a share.
Don't expect high quality acting for this is just a student's work for an assignment and some jokes are just funnier to them than the viewer. But, the part with the broken nail and techno had me in tears.

of mismatched couples.
I suddenly remembered a conversation I had years ago with a friend. We've known each other for more than a decade now and we're still close. The following conversation was from when we were both much younger:
Yeap... And no, he still doesn't have a girlfriend until now.
The moral of the story is?
Guys can be such idiots.
Me: I've been seeing alot of couples where the girls are like ALOT hotter than the guys. Some of the guys look really bad...
Him: That means there's still hope.
Me: Hope? You mean hope for true love that these girls can see past the outlook and love the guy based on their personality?
Him: NO! Hope for ugly guys like me to get a HAWT girlfriend!!!
Me: Dude, if you're ugly, lower your expectations.
Him: I don't have to, I just have to be rich.
Me: Oh dear...
Yeap... And no, he still doesn't have a girlfriend until now.

Smile For Japan
There's only so much a prayer can do. That is if you believe in it.
Unfortunately, I find myself rarely praying. I was touched by a picture today so I've decided to spread smiles instead. Please visit Smile For Japan on Facebook and upload a smile.
We need to show our support to this amazing country.
And ofcourse, donations are always welcome. The last I heard on the radio was that the damage cost estimated so far is 34 BILLION. I've done my part, as much as I could afford for now.
What about you?

Suicidal tendencies
Everyone's talking about the 22 year old who jumped 14 stories to his death in Malaysia. It's tragic, really, I really do feel sorry for his pain and the pain his family and friends have to deal with now. But seriously, I can't help thinking what an idiot he is.
I'm not going to deny the fact that I have thought of suicide countless of times after a break up as well. I have to hand it to that guy, not many (actually, way too many) have the guts to actually go through with it. I can understand the pain and the urge to just end everything.
But the one thing this guy did, which makes his suicide such a famous one, is posting his suicide note on Facebook for the whole world to see. Can there be a bigger cry for attention than that?!?!?!?! Oh wait, he attached a picture of his last moment in tears too. Like... it's such an obvious slap/stab to his ex. It's his perfect revenge. By killing himself, he literrally killed her life too.
Everyone's thinking what a bitch this girl is. Maybe she really is a bitch, I won't know. But is breaking up with someone/playing with someone's feelings that bad until she deserves this? Who the hell would want to date her now? How about her future? If she's rich she can just escape and run to another country for a new start. But what if there's no way for her to run??? Even if she does manage to escape... how can she live with the guilt? Not to mention the whole freaking country now knows about her guilt.
What this kid did is totally unforgivable. He may be dead now, it's sad, yes, but he's dead. Like... he's not going to see what his action did. But his parents? His siblings? Relatives? Friends? He threw a bomb aiming at his ex and it blew up, killing everyone close to him as well.
If you have issues, if you're depressed, find someone to talk to. If you do not have any friends whom you can trust, go talk to a perfect stranger online or call any of the helplines/organisations created to help suicidal people. Killing yourself isn't a solution to anything but to feed your own ego.

of guys & lesbians.
I've noticed that most straight guys, upon hearing the word "lesbian", the only image that pops into their head are 2 girls going down on each other. It excites them and it's almost like every guy's fantasy to have a threesome with 2 other hot girls.
But the moment they see a butch with a girl, they show disgust. Weird. It's still 2 girls together but it creates a totally different reaction. I mean, it's still boobs and pussy x2, but the idea of a girl acting like a guy totally puts them off. It's like you suggested that they get a vasectomy, It's almost as if they're demasculinized.
I once asked my girlfriend (who was straight before she met me) that how would her ex react knowing that she is with a girl now. She said that he would not be able to accept it. It was brought up once as a joke and the guy's reaction was like "I will never accept that you will leave me for a girl. You can't be with another girl."
He DID find out about us and boy did he go crazy. It was rather fun really. Normally I wouldn't be so mean but this guy was a stalker and just couldn't get over her after 6 months. But long story short, he backed off and I'm happy.
Back to topic, his reaction is pretty predictable. I think it has something to do with a guy's ego. The need to be manly and the pride all suffocating their brains (though I believe alot of guys let their dicks do the thinking, I may be biased but let's face it, that's where all the blood goes when they're excited).
But guys still like "lesbians". Only when that means 2 hot girls who are aching for a man. Anything more than that, they freak out.
I believe homophobia is exactly what the word means. Not hate, but FEAR. Fear of not understanding something. It's stupid to hate tomboys just because they act like boys and like girls. It's fear that this girl is EXACTLY like them. Just a different gender. Guys are AFRAID of losing to this GIRL. In fact, I know this guy who can't even call a butch a girl. He calls them "that kind of people" or "not normal people". Such an insult, I know. I'm not friends with him and yes, I hated his guts even before I found out about this. I have knack for knowing a person's personality.
That's my theory, feel free to tell me what you think. While I keep an open mind to criticism, please be aware that any flames or homoPHOBIC comments shall be ignored. Not because I am scared of you, but because I will not dignify your stupidity with an answer.
"Men think that lesbianism is a disease because they think they're the cure" - by unknown.
What guys think when they think lesbians.

Not because I am scared of you, but because I will not dignify your stupidity with an answer.

i never
I've never truly felt the need to kill until the night before.
If I'm given a second chance, I would not be so calm.
I've heard a saying that goes "Buddha only forgives 3 times."
Since I'm only human, I'll pretend to forgive once. If that bastard shows his dog face in front of me again, I swear I will not only make him regret the fact he was born; I'm going to make him wish he will never be reborn to meet me again.
It's only when you lose everything that you can do anything. She is my everything. Don't try me.
